Biography of Patrick D. Powers:
Patrick Powers is Co-Managing Director and Owner of BFSG, LLC and President of one of its two divisions – BFS Wealth Management. Powers was formerly president and founder of Powers Capital Investments, which merged with BFSG in 2016. BFSG is a member of Focus Financial Partners, an international family of investment management firms. They have offices in Irvine, California and Phoenix, Arizona.
BFS Wealth Management manages investment portfolios for individuals, families, qualified plans and charitable organizations. Here, advisors construct diversified portfolios of active and passive funds and individual securities. They also provide sophisticated financial and retirement planning services. They are fee-only Registered Investment Advisors, and fully embrace their fiduciary responsibility to their clients. BFS Institutional Services is one of the premier providers of corporate retirement plan consulting and advisory services.
A seasoned Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA/PFS), Mr. Powers began his career at KPMG in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has been an investment advisor and portfolio manager for more than 30 years. Mr. Powers holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton.

In addition to a demanding career, Mr. Powers is a Knight of the Collar of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, which is charged by the Holy Father to support the Church and Christians in the Holy Land. He served as Vice Governor General of the Equestrian Order from 2010 through 2018. Mr. Powers was also a member of the Presidency of the Grand Magisterium of the Order. As Vice Governor General, he oversaw 16 North American lieutenancies, which comprise about one half of the membership of the worldwide Order. Prior to being appointed Vice Governor General, Patrick served as Lieutenant of the Western USA Lieutenancy for 8 years and was awarded the Gold Palm of Jerusalem. He served on the committee to revise the Constitution of the Order.
Patrick is also a member of the Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Knights of Malta). He has served the sick and the poor on 15 of the Order’s pilgrimages to Lourdes. He served on the Board of Directors of the Western USA Association and chaired their Investment Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem Foundation, which is sponsored by the Order of Malta, with support from the Equestrian Order. He chairs the Holy Family Hospital Foundation investment committee, as well as that of the Norbertine Fathers at St. Michael’s Abbey in southern California.
