Today the Mercedes Maybach is known to the most elite of car enthusiasts worldwide; the ultra-luxury car starts at $168,600. But this episode is not about luxury. It’s about super-innovation, building bridges from the past to the future, and mentoring others. Ulrich founded the Maybach Foundation in 2006 with the dual mission of honoring the history of ingenious designers and inventors Wilhelm and Karl Maybach and mentoring a new generation of innovators to follow their own inspirations. The Foundation’s motto is “Your best future is helping someone else find theirs.”

- BIO: Ulrich Schmid-Maybach is a philanthropist, real estate developer, and entrepreneur. He is the great-grandson and grandson of Wilhelm and Karl Maybach, respectively. When Daimler AG re-launched the Maybach brand of ultra-luxury automobiles, Schmid-Maybach was named brand ambassador. Inspired by the mentorship of Wilhelm Maybach by Gottlieb Daimler, Ulrich founded the Wilhelm and Karl Maybach Foundation, to “give exceptionally talented young individuals the chance to change the world.” He resides in San Francisco but his work and his dedication to the Foundation require he spend much of the time traveling the globe.
